Inauguration Photos

There are a lot of awesome photos of Obama's recent Inauguration, but this one is amazing.  It's a 1.5 giga-pixel panorama shot.  Yes, that's giga-pixel!

In this case the image is 59,783 X 24,658.  Using a Gigapan imager clamped to the railing of the press tower,photographer David Bergman shot 220 images with a Canon G10 and stiched them together.  For those that where there, it probably can't match the real thing.  But for the rest of us, it makes for the most interactive Inaugural experience we're likely to get.

You can just barely see Colin Powell behind Aretha Franklin's hat and it looks to me like Supreme Court Justine Clarence Thomas is falling asleep...
